Shawn Trent, Athletic Director, has a challenge in front of him like no other, building an entire athletic program from scratch. "It’s going to take some time and we understand that, I think that’s the hardest thing of pumping the breaks, sometimes so to speak, knowing it’s going to take some time."

Trent is the athletic director at Parrish Community High School, a brand-new school in Manatee County. "The thing of you being the person that walks in and sets traditions that are hopefully here, a hundred, hundred fifty, two hundred years from now when I am long gone you know, somebody can look say you started that, that’s pretty cool," he said.

Trent comes over from Lakewood Ranch where he had been for 14 years, the last 12 as athletic director. Head football coach.

With the nickname the Bulls, Parrish Community High School will compete in Class 4-A Region 3. In the first two years, the athletic program will feature freshmen and sophomores playing up, but by the third and fourth year, the school will have its first varsity classes and hopes to have enough students enrolled to fill 22 team sports.
