Parrish Community High School Ribbon Cutting

Updated: Aug 8, 2019

The new Parrish Community High School held it's ribbon cutting and open house ceremony this past Tuesday, August 6th from 5:00-6:00 pm.

The community was invited to meet in the bright new cafeteria. The school colors of navy blue, silver and white adorned the room on the walls, floors and shirts worn by the many staff and students present.

Mike Barber, the Communications Director, introduced the many contributors, from the architects and builders to the school board and County Commissioners.

Speeches were made, applause given and then School Board Chairman Dave "Watchdog" Minor and Superintendent Cynthia Saunders led the dignitaries using a massive pair of scissors to cut through the big blue ribbon.

Afterwards, the public was invited to tour the school and enjoy complimentary hot dogs, snacks followed by a celebratory cake and cupcakes. New students lined up to receive their home room assignments, ready to begin the school year on August 12th.

The new facility offers many state-of-the-art features including TV monitors and wifi in every room, left/right desks in classrooms, LED lighting, and high tech security measures. The mechanics class shop is impressive, including car lifts, tire alignment rack, mounting machine and tire balancing machine.

There are still some last minute touches going on. There is construction going on by the softball field and the auditorium is not yet open. The school will not be utilizing the upstairs classrooms for the first year and some other facilities will come into play as the year progresses.

Many members of the community have already contributed and sponsored the bulls including: A Paradise Realty, Butterfield's Family Restaurant, CenterState Bank, Dixie Southern, Domino's, Embrace Healthy Habits, Everglades Equipment Group, First Baptist Church of Parrish, Gilbane Building Company, Keiser University, Kenneth Foy Pest Control, Manatee Memorial Hospital, Meadows Family Dentistry, Oneco Concrete & Asphalt, Inc., Parrish Civic Association, Parrish General Supply, Peace River Electric Cooperative, PJ's Sandwich Shop, Premier Family Chiropractic, Realhab, Inc., Schindel Orthodontics, Spivey's Construction LLC, Suncoast Dentistry, UPS Store, Vision Source Parrish, and Waterlefe CDD Golf Course. The staff of Parrish Community High School is encouraging the community to stay active and involved in the school.

The first day of classes - and the much-anticipated opening of the school- takes place on Monday, August 12th!
